Hi, I'm Anne!

I'm Anne Willingham, the owner-photographer behind Brown Bunny Photography and everybody's favorite aunt. I have been taking pictures of babies since my first niece was born over two decades ago. My siblings gave me a new niece every year for five years, so I've had a lot of practice over the years taking pictures of cute kids. I love being an aunt. My job when they were little was to spoil them with all the great things I could find. Now that they are mostly grown, my job is to be a good listener as they figure out who and what they want to be. They are honestly my most favorite people in the world to hang out with.

Brown Bunny Photography was born in 2017 and three of the five nieces have worked alongside me as assistants. We all have years of experience helping moms and rocking babies back to sleep!

I am currently mom to two rescue dogs, a formerly feral barn cat that discovered the joys of a pillow top bed, and a chonky grey kitty who was born in my front bedroom. I love reading, Netflix and knitting, and a Coke Zero in the morning. The yarn store is my happy place.

Why photography?

Photography blends all of my abilities and passions into one big, happy, creative project. I love the way light affects the body and the artistic aspects of composition, framing, and editing. Then there are the kids! I love being silly and goofy with your children. My photo sessions are fun for all of us.

Sessions are like small theatrical productions. What story are we telling about your kids? Figuring out which presentations will enhance your home and life uses my interior design background. I want to fill your home with beautiful new artwork that reflects your precious memories. Just like I take care of my nieces, I want to help take care of you!

More random facts about me

I'm an Alabama native and moved to Nashville after earning my Bachelor of Interior Design from the Auburn University School of Architecture and a Master of Fine Arts in scenic and lighting design from the University of Alabama. I also have a niece at the University of Tennessee and another at University of Florida, so I am conflicted during football season. Just kidding. I am totally an Auburn fan.

Clearly I am completely over-educated. What can I say? I am a big ol' nerd and I liked school. The end result for you is that I am a design nut. I love creating beautiful art and I love helping people decide how to display their family images in their homes.

I have designed for numerous area theater companies including Nashville Shakespeare Festival, Vanderbilt Opera Theater, and the Tennessee Performing Arts Center. I have taught an assortment of lighting and technical classes as an adjunct instructor for Lipscomb University and Belmont University, as well as designing for the theatre program at Montgomery Bell Academy.

As a water enthusiast, I have taught swim lessons every summer for nearly 35 years and coached swim teams in Birmingham and Franklin. I love teaching kids to swim, especially preschoolers. It's such a joy to watch little kids become smart and brave and proud of their accomplishments.
