Booking Your Newborn Photography Session
The experience begins with a simple conversation.
After you reach out through our website, we’ll schedule a quick phone call to learn about your family, answer your questions, explain our process, and make sure we’re the right fit for one another. During this call you can ask specific questions about what to expect during your newborn session.
When you’re ready to move forward, I’ll send you a booking link to reserve your newborn photography session. From there, we’ll plan your session together. If your schedule allows, we’ll meet for a design consultation where we’ll choose colors, backdrops, props, and any family heirlooms you’d like to include. We’ll also talk about the style of artwork you’d love to display in your home.
Life with a new baby can be wonderfully busy, so if meeting in person isn’t convenient, I’ve created an online planning guide that allows you to browse our collection of backdrops, props, wraps, and color palettes from the comfort of your own home. You can select your favorites whenever it fits your schedule.
During an in-person consultation, you’ll also have the opportunity to see and hold our handcrafted albums, framed artwork, and heirloom products so you can experience their quality firsthand. If we plan everything virtually, you’ll find photographs and detailed information about our artwork collections on the website, making it easy to explore your options before your session.
Preparing for Your Session
One of the biggest goals at Brown Bunny Photography is making your newborn photography session as easy as possible.
We’ll provide nearly everything your baby needs for beautiful portraits, including wraps, hand-knit outfits, blankets, bonnets, headbands, and carefully selected props. You’ll simply bring your baby, diapers, feeding supplies, and anything you’d like us to incorporate into your session, such as a special blanket or meaningful family heirloom.
Before your appointment, we’ll also send helpful preparation tips so you’ll arrive feeling relaxed and confident.
What Happens When You Arrive?
When you arrive at the studio, we’ll spend a few minutes getting everyone settled and admiring your newest family member—because honestly, who can resist?
If you’ve chosen family portraits, we’ll begin there while everyone is fresh. Parents and siblings are photographed first before relaxing for the remainder of the session. Once we’ve finished photographing your family portraits, dads and siblings are welcome to head home. This helps keep the studio calm, quiet, and relaxing for the remainder of your newborn’s session, allowing us to capture those peaceful sleepy portraits with plenty of patience and care.
We’ll guide you through every pose, so there’s no need to worry about knowing what to do in front of the camera.
Your Baby Sets the Schedule
One of the biggest surprises for new parents is how relaxed a newborn photography session really is. Everything revolves around your baby.
Need to stop for a feeding? Perfect.
Need a diaper change? We’ll wait.
Need extra cuddles? Absolutely.
There is never any pressure to rush. Some babies sleep through nearly the entire session, while others prefer lots of snack breaks and extra snuggles. Both are completely normal.
Our baby-led approach allows us to create beautiful portraits while always putting your newborn’s comfort and safety first.
Creating Your Baby’s Portraits
Once family portraits are finished, we’ll move into your baby’s individual images.
We’ll begin with simple wrapped and beanbag poses before moving into carefully styled prop setups using bowls, baskets, beds, and other timeless pieces from our studio collection.
Every pose is chosen based on your baby’s comfort level. If they love being curled on their side, wonderful. If they prefer staying comfortably wrapped, that’s wonderful too.
Our goal isn’t to force poses—it’s to create beautiful, natural portraits that celebrate exactly who your baby is during these fleeting first days.
How Long Does a Newborn Photography Session Take?
Every baby is different, which means every session is different too.
Most newborn photography sessions last between two and four hours. That gives us plenty of time for feeding breaks, diaper changes, soothing, and all the cuddles your baby needs without anyone feeling rushed.
Parents are often surprised by how peaceful the experience feels. Many even enjoy sitting back with a snack, reading a book, or taking a well-deserved nap while I work with their little one.

After your session, I’ll carefully review every image and select the strongest portraits for your ordering appointment.
Together we’ll view your gallery and choose the artwork that best tells your family’s story. Whether you fall in love with a handcrafted album, a statement wall gallery, or framed fine art prints, I’ll help you choose pieces that fit beautifully within your home.
Every image is individually hand-edited before being printed through professional labs known for exceptional quality and longevity.
Before your artwork is delivered, I personally inspect every piece to ensure it meets my standards. Then comes one of my favorite moments—bringing your finished artwork home to your family.
